Alexandra Fortacz’s overall research focus is on poverty and human development in conjunction with conflict and environment. She currently holds two research positions: At the University of Continued Education in Krems, Alexandra is a researcher working on climate migration as part of the PHOENIX project focused on international climate mobilities governance in different policy spheres and a collaboration with IIASA on climate migration in and to Europe. At the University of Vienna, she is a university project assistant at the Spatial Data Science and Geocommunication Unit, where she concentrates on merging spatial data science/GeoAI with her research focus on poverty and human development under threat, working on knowledge and data governance in crisis situations. Previously, Alexandra worked at the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative, where she inter alia coordinated and contributed to the global Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) Report; and has collaborated and worked for different governmental, non-governmental, and international institutions in sphere of international relations and development (e.g. with UNDP/HDRO or ODI(Research Consortium Education Research in Conflict and Protracted Crisis)). She holds a MPhil in International Relations from the University of Oxford and a BA in Political Science from the University of Vienna.
