Biodiversity Guidelines for Universities

As a member of the Alliance of Sustainable Universities in Austria, the Platform for Sustainable Development at the University for Continuing Education Krems has contributed to the publication of Biodiversity Guidelines for Universities. The alliance was founded in 2012 as an informal network of universities that aims at promoting sustainability issues in Austrian universities and thus to contribute to a more sustainable society.
The biodiversity guidelines aim to support universities in increasing biodiversity on their own campuses, by recognizing and utilizing the synergies for learning, working and recreational spaces, and in integrating biodiversity aspects into all sectors of the university environment. Taking into account the different needs and perceptions of users is recommended so that biodiversity at universities can be beneficial for health and well-being, for communication, creativity, integration and satisfaction.
